Bello Zigarren aus Miami (& Nicaragua)

 zusammen,
heute mal etwas selteneres, Zigarren der Marke Bello von Cuba Tobacco Cigar Co. in Little Havana in Miami.

Letztendlich sind Bello Zigarren der Grund, weshalb ich auf die Zigarren gekommen bin.

Jedes Jahr, wenn ich auf Dienstreise in Miami bin, kaufe ich mir eine kleine Auswahl vor Ort im Laden

Die Firma hat sein Ladengeschäft in Little Havana in Miami, wo man sowohl die recht große Auswahl an Zigarren kaufen kann, als auch durch eine Glasscheibe den Zigarrenrollern im Hinterzimmer zuschauen.

Sie selbst geben an, dass die Zigarren sowohl vor Ort als auch in Nicaragua gerollt werden.
Es werden grundsätzlich Blends aus verschiedenen Ländern verwendet, es soll aber auch US Tabak verwendet werden.

Letztendlich ist die Geschichte der Firma die Typische Kubaner-Exil Story.

The Bello family always had a tradition of cultivating their land. The roots of their Cuban tobacco heritage reach into the 19th century when Don Bello, the first of Bello tobacconists, left Canary Islands in search for better soil and climate conditions. After exploring the country of Cuba he settled in Las Villas, a region very well known for producing the finest filler and binder tobacco on the island. Following his success in growing and processing tobacco he decided to start a cigar production on his own.

In 1896 he established his first cigar factory named after the place that became his new home. Tabacalera Las Villas started to produce private cigar labels for other tobacconists as well as the first family house brand Bello.LEAVING CUBA

A historic change for the country of Cuba came in 1959 when communist regime was installed following the Cuban revolution. New political system had tremendous impact on the cigar industry forcing all independent tobacco growers and manufacturers to surrender their businesses otherwise they were declared and charged as traitors to the revolution. All of the Bello family’s tobacco fields, raw material and

factories were nationalized, leaving them with no other choice than to leave the country.

Most of the family members immigrated to the United States of America, settling in Miami where Don Pedro Bello together with his son Pedro “Peter” Bello Jr. slowly began to revive their Cuban cigar tradition.CIGAR BOOM

In 1994 Bello family opened their factory in Little Havana, Miami and began manufacturing Havana Sunrise, one of the most prominent cigar brands of the 90’s Cigar Boom. Bello family rose to become the largest manufacturer of premium cigars in the USA what brought them international recognition and earned their place among the cigar elite. To meet the demand Bello family expanded their production to Dominican Republic, what turned out to be the beginning of an end for Havana Sunrise.

A conflict between the family and their business partner lead to a litigation in which Bello family decided not to continue and rather moved on to producing cigars of a different mark. Even that Havana Sunrise does not remain with the family the original tobacco blend by Don Pedro Bello was never released.
 
CRYSTAL LEAF AWARD

Celebrating a great era of cigar industry, an event by Smoke Affair magazine was held at the Westin Resort in Miami Beach on 27th February 1998. Top cigar manufacturers entered into a blind tasting competition with their most meticulous blends using the finest tobacco leaves. Cigars were hand rolled at the event by master rollers each representing their house, numbered and reviewed by a panel of cigar aficionados.

Don Pedro Bello was declared the winner out of the participating tobacconists and as a cigar pioneer in South Florida he was honored with a Crystal Leaf Award in recognition of a lifetime of passion, dedication and contribution to the cigar industry.PRESENT TIME

Bello family, now up to it’s 5th generation, is staying true to their old standards using their knowledge and experience to produce some of the finest cigars in the world today.

Insgesamt ein schöner Laden mit angenehmer Atmosphäre und guter Beratung.

Leider entspricht das Onlinesortiment bei weitem nicht dem vor Ort und vor Ort habe ich mir die Beschriftungen nicht abfotografiert, daher kann ich nur schätzen, was ich hier eigentlich genau verkostet habe😅

Insgesamt werde ich hier mit der Zeit, und bei Interesse von euch, 4 Zigarren vorstellen, von denen zwei schon verkostet sind.

Format: Rothschild
Ringmaß: 59
Länge: 120mm
Preis: 12$ (Angebot 3 für 2)
Beim Deckblatt würde ich auf Connecticut Shade tippen.
   
   

Im Kaltgeruch sind grasige und florale Noten von frischem Heu zu finden.
Der Kalt Zug ist sehr leicht.

Die Zigarre ließ sich gut entzünden und hat sofort mit einer vollen Rauchentwicklung positiv auf sich aufmerksam gemacht.

Leider begann sie nach ca. einem cm damit recht bitter zu schmecken, wobei dies nach insgesamt zwei cm in eine sehr leckere Nussigkeit überging.

In der ersten Hälfte war der Abbrand sehr gleichmäßig.
Geschmacklich würde ich die Zigarre zwischen Nussig und Grasig einordnen. Lecker aber für meinen persönlichen Geschmack etwas zu leicht.

   

Ab der zweiten Hälfte ist die Zigarre in der Mitte leider nicht sauber abgebrannt.
Auch ein nachzünden hat leider nicht viel geholfen.

   

Man kann die Zigarre sehr gut bis hinter der Banderole rauchen, leider klebt der Kleber etwas zu stark und beschädigt das Deckblatt beim Ablösen, wobei die Beschädigung keine negative Auswirkung hatte.

Ab höhe der Banderole wird das Aroma deutlich voller und es kommt eine wohlige Cremigkeit zum Vorschein, wobei Aromen von Nuss, Leder und Erde in den Vordergrund rückt.

Zum Ende hin habe ich die Zigarre natürlich ausgehen lassen und nochmal genau nachgeschaut, sie ist in der Mitte leider wirklich nicht abgebrannt.

   

Da ich in Miami aber schon 2 Zigarren dieses Type geraucht habe und keine Probleme hatte, gehe ich aber von einem Einzelfall aus.

Abschließend, zum Aufstehen quasi, ist anzumerken, dass die Zigarre (obwohl ich gegessen habe) eine solide Nikotinwirkung hatte.

Alles in allem, bis auf den Abbrand, eine ordentliche Zigarre, aber für meinen Geschmack etwas zu leicht.
